I'm looking for something mild-medium strength I like aromatics and English blends I'm currently enjoying some Sunday picnic for an English and davinci by dan tobacco as an aromatic. I'd like recomendations for something sweet but not headache causeing like davinci sometimes is. I had a tin of x sweet mystery by soloni that was nice maybe something along it's line of flavor power, perhaps just a different taste. Or maybe something as delicious as Sunday picnic but different. |

Trent, I was perusing older posts here, as I am a fairly new member...but a veteran smoker...& I noticed there were no answers to your post. So here's my 2 cents' worth: I have been smoking a pipe since my early 20's (now in my early 50's) & my exclusive blend all these years has been "Black Cordial" (formerly known as "Z-50"). It is a blend of 4 blends, one of which is Black Cavendish, & is flavored with a bit of some cherry blend. It is a nice sweet aromatic with very little bite that has an extremely pleasant aura. A friend of mine once tried to explain the aroma as I sat on his couch smoking a pipe. The best he could come up with was "...it smells like...like....burning ice cream"...for what it's worth. "Black Cordial" has become increasingly difficult to find, but I have been ordering it lately from pipesandcigars.com located in NY. If you decide to try it I'd like to hear your opinion, so please post again. |

The best aro that I've had this year was Trout Stream. You can only get it (as far as I've seen) at pipesandcigars.com It actually tastes just like it smells (rare for an aro) which is very pleasant maple/butterscotch. Also doesn't gunk up the bowl. I like it about once a week. Another go-to for my aromatics has been Morning Coffee from Just ForHim.com It tastes just like its name: Delicious. This is the one all my friends beg me for who only occasionally reach for their pipes. For English-type blends that can give a bit of sweetness, I like the Frog Morton series from McClelland and Spillman mixture. Hope this helps. |

i was actually pleasantly surprised by McClelland's Holiday Spirit (not Christmas Cheer. that's good, but in a different way). The thing is, I usually hate aromatics. This one was very good, though; it tasted just like pecan pie and didn't clog up the pipe with propylene glycol and high fructose corn syrup (yes, they put those on most aromatics...). i'd go for that one if you're looking for a good aromatic. |

I would concur with Dan...Holiday Spirit 2009 is quite nice (I don't usually enjoy aro's). I would also recommend Pipeworks & Wilkes blends...Gramercy Park (Rum and Spice) or Gotham Court (English with a Clove topping). Cheers! Dane |
