This is a moderated discussion board for questions about pipes and tobaccos. If you are a first time user, you should check out the "Getting Started" link in the frame to the left.
The reason for these discussions is to answer people's questions on pipes and tobaccos, and to disseminate pipe-related information in a collegial environment. To assure this happens, the following policies are enforced.
1. All posts are moderated. This helps ensure that all posts will be respectful. There are plenty of other venues that are unmoderated that you can visit if you prefer that type of discussion. 2. When posting, please give either your first-hand experience or cite the source of information. Third-hand anecdotes are generally not acceptable. 3. This is a pipe and tobacco forum -- views on other topics are not appropriate here. 4. In order to keep tracks of the authors on threads, you must register before you post and you may have only one registration. 5. Selling is only permitted in Commercial News with guidelines listed on top of the page. 6. Links to sites that disparage any member of this forum will be deleted.
Please understand the reason for these policies is so that anyone can ask and answer questions in a friendly environment, with the hope that our little community of those who are interested in pipes and tobaccos will benefit.
If you have questions about how to clean and maintain your pipes, see the Maintenance Questions moderated by Melvin Schwartz with assistance from Jim Beard.
If you want information about a particular pipe, please see the Used/Estate Questions section. Ebay is probably the best place to research the value of a pipe.
If you have questions about tobacco, see the Tobacco Questions section.
If there is something pipe-related that you are looking for, use the Wanted section.
For all other questions, please use the General Questions section.
If you don't have a question but want to converse about all things pipe, head for the Pipe Smokers Lounge.
If you want to post commercial information, choose Commercial News; this is the only place where commercial information is welcome.
These last six are moderated by Melvin Schwartz. If you are a registered user, you can choose to publish your profile. It will then be visible to others in the "User List" on the left.
Note: each message will be approved by a moderator before it is posted so there will be a delay before it shows up.
