Hey guys! Where do you keep your tobacco after the tin is open?Do you keep it in the same tin or place it in some special jar so it can't get dryer. |

I buy the little round button humidifiers and if the tobacco warrants it I put one in the tin...there's the ones made of metal with clay inside but lately I've been using the plastic ones with florist foam in them that you can get on ebay...they're about one inch round and maybe 1/8" thick and you can put a drop or two of 50/50 PG/water mix in them...keeps the tobacco moist enough and using no water, retards mold growth...and since I smoke cigars and have three humidors I always have a bottle of humidor juice around... |

I move some of mine to jars after opening. I usually move the ribbon cut tobaccos to jars and keep my flakes in the tins. I find that they seem to stay fresher in a well sealed jar. |

I store most of my one-pound-bulk stuff in jars, but the tinned stuff I just keep in tins. Tins with good screw-top lids will keep tobacco fresh for many months after they've been opened, sometimes even a year. When I buy one-pound boxes of flakes I just stick the opened boxes in large zip lock bags unless I want to age some of the flakes or I expect it will take me more than 3 or 4 months to smoke them. |

My wife gave me a container that has a pinch thing on the top that forms a light vacuum. That is where I keep my tobacco that I am currently smoking. As for my stored tobacco, I store it in Mason or Ball jars after a hot bath, then keep it in a picnic cooler in an interior closet. |

Marc, I just bought those little humidifiers and they work wonderfully! I was wondering how long they last before I have to resoak them? |

I check all my tins about every 7-10 days and depending on the condition of the tobacco, is whether I put any more humidifier juice in the button, or not...I guess at any given time I have about a dozen to a dozen-and-a-half open tins...only takes me a few minutes... |
