I have returned to the pipe after a 25 year absence. Boy have things changed. Long live the internet! Long live E commerce! I an facinated by the cellaring experiments and am about to try it myself. I have some tobcco coming from C&D and G L Pease. For daily storage I have some nice bale top jars I purchased at Target. For cellaring I bought some friction seal jars from Walmart that I will tape ith electrical tape after pushing the top in place. I would like to know what you fvorite method is. Also is your method more effective than the one that I am goig to use. I am a new member of the group and this is my first post. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks, Ken |

Ken, Welcome to the forum. My method of cellaring is very similar to what you are doing. I cellar the tobacco in the tins that they come in. I do take several tins and wrap them in plastic wrap (something that I learned about on this forum). I don't really buy the tobacco in bulk. For daily use, I use some glass containers that I bought at Wal-Mart that I store the loose leaf blends. (More than likely, they are the same type of jars that you have.) I leave flakes in the tin that they came in. Hope this helps George |

Hello Ken and welcome back. For long term storage, I use the hot bath method. I pack the tobacco in a Mason or Ball jar, set it in hot water until it is hot then seal it. After it "tings," I put it in a picnic cooler and store it in an interior closet away frim the light and heat. |

For cellaring I use Mason jars. The lids seem to seal air-tight even if I don't heat the jars to create a negative pressure to make the lids pop down. Oh yes, and welcome to the forum, Ken. |
