Hello,

I just received a new Ferndown pipe from my wife for Christmas, and I would like to try some Ferndown pipe tobacco. Does anyone on the list have experience with these?

Regards,

Bill

Hi William,

The only one that I'm pretty familiar with is Mild Brown, a very nice dark Virginia honeydew in partially rubbed out flake form. It is a mellow, tasty Virginia with a sweet and spicy note. I also found this to be relatively easy on the tongue for a stoved Virginia. I like this one quite a bit.

I've also had the Yellow & Brown blend a while ago but cannot remember very much about it. It's a mild Virginia/oriental blend without latakia. Not bad as I recall. All of the Ferndown tobaccos are blended in Germany by the ubiquitous Kohlhase & Kopp.
