I have been reading reviews of Royal Yacht and find the range of opinions to be all over the map. Some people love it, and others find the smell and taste to be the equivalent of rotting meat. How people know what rotting meat taste like is a question probably better asked on another forum. I personally like the Yacht; it is heavy and has a lot of nic, which is not for everybody but is that enough to incite feelings of anger and mayhem out of some? Is it the highbrow name? Any opinions on why this tobacco seems to be absolutely loved or hated?

In my opinion, Royal Yacht has the best tin aroma of all the non aromatics that I have tried,it almost smells as if it has been flavored,to me it smokes nice as well, better than Nightcap,(high nicotene),and even nicer than Early Morning Pipe.
It is my favorite Dunhill so far.

I like Royal Yacht too. I was my go to VA for a long time and I still smoke it. I have about 10 tins aging too. :-)

I also like Royal Yacht, though I don't smoke it too often because of its strength. I don't know why it produces such negative reactions, because it's really a very nice Virginia. The flavor is very nice (as one reviewer put it, Royal Yacht almost tastes like a traditional English blend with Latakia), containing deep, round tones with very little chance of tongue bite. What always puzzled me about the blend is its topping. The common opinion seems to be that it smells like something between berries and rotting meat, but I don't think it resembles either in the slightest way. The topping is actually so subtle that I sometimes wonder why it is even there. Royal Yacht generally goes in the aromatic category, though I don't think it could possibly be further than the traditional aromatic.
