Hello,
I'm a new member from www.PipeClub.gr and pleased to meet more people like you!
I want to ask a question to any one who may know about:
Olivewood toxicity.
Is there any danger smoking pipes of Olivewood?
Fathermore made of other woods: maple, Ebony, Cocobolo?
Thank you.

European Olive is far less toxic than any African wood. Cocobolo is not a wood to suck on, for example. African hardwoods tend to have a lot of poisonous resins in them (to fight off those crazy African bugs, I guess). You are far safer with olive or maple. I find olive dust a bit irritating, but as a pipe wood, it is excellent.

The "danger" in smoking olive-wood pipes is no different than briar, imho. I would stay away from ebony, rosewood, cocobolo... all those oily, hard woods.
