Greetings,
I've joined this forum and find it very informative especially Mr. Lanman's comments and others when it pertains to Canada. Being in Alberta it's getting scary to see where tobacco prices are going and how difficult it is to buy online.
I've been smoking a pipe for a long time mostly drugstore brands. Once in a while when I could afford it buying an English mixture from a real tobacconist if I was in the city. I never thought about storing or aging tobacco. A guy should have been stocking up when prices were a lot cheaper. It makes you want to cry when you surf American tobacco shops and see a carton of 6 pouches selling for less than I pay for one pouch.
In the better late than never category I've been buying Brigham tobaccos with the idea of storing and aging some. My one concern with them is that they seem to be on the wet side. I've left a package of Morning Pleasure open for a couple of days with no appreciable loss of moisture.
Anybody have any experience smoking aged Brigham tobaccos?
Regards to all from Central Alberta

Yves, there's honestly not much point in aging any of the brigham stuff - the aromatic components will just get worse, not better, and the tobacco is really not that great.

Shoot me an email dude - Sasquatchman@telus.net

Yves, I think the Brigham's are a combination of re-badged Altadis blends and blends produced by Altadis for them. Interestingly, you'll find many of the Brigham blend descriptions here if you dig a bit:
http://www.altadisusa.com/cigar/bulktobacco.asp
Today, Brigham is a distributor rather than a manufacturer. As such the Brigham's are mostly mass produced American aromatics - which means they're best consumed within a year or so of packaging.
I understand that you're trying to preserve something for the longer term before it's either gone in Alberta or so pricey that it might as well be gone. But the Brigham's are, for the most part, not good candidates.

There are some good authoritative articles on tobaccos & enjoying them with age following:

Hello Rustytoo, I saw the nocturne site which led me to this site. The world of tobacco reviews is a place I never dreamed of. Thanks for the info.
