I've gotten intrigued reading about GL Pease tobaccos. Anybody know if they're available in Canada? Thanks |

Oh there are plenty of tins of GLP's blends in Canada. But the brand isn't commercially distributed in Canada, AFAIK. There are quite a few brands that are available in the US that aren't distributed in Canada and, no surprise, they're here too. It's quite ok to import up to a Kg from US retailers for personal use. And we do - regularly. |

To figure out your costs (duty & taxes) go to:http://homepage.mac.com/ericmelby/Pipes/links.html it's down towards the bottom under "Miscellaneous...", you'll be surprised how much you save, even paying all the taxes, as long as you use an economical shipping method. Do Not use a method like UPS or FedEx, UPS automatically taps you with a $20.00 or more fee for clearing customs!! I use 1st Class International (USPS), which means it is NOT insured, but have never had a package go astray. 2 1/2 pound package (1 kilo + packing wt) is under $11.00 US, in contrast to the more expensive USPS methods (which can be insured and tracked, but will only get to you about a week sooner). see: http://www.usps.com/prices/first-class-mail-international-prices.htm#C Just deal with a reputable etailer< like 4 Noggins or cup'o'joes. |

Thanks for the link, Al. I hadn't seen this site but it's pretty interesting. I ordered some GL Pease from 4 Noggins. When it comes through Customs I'll just hold out my wallet and say "Don't hurt me." I wonder if these premium tobaccos will make my attempt at growing tobacco pale in comparison. This is my first attempt and I've had some growing pains but have quite a few doing not too bad. I don't think the big boys in the industry have anything to worry about. |
