I have in my collection of sealed tins a 25+ year old tin of Garfinkels "Shottery" Blend. I have been told this retailer was in Washington D.C.....I have heard some of their blends were made for them by McConnell, but can find no info as to who made "Shottery"...I have been told it is English, and that their blends are hard to find still sealed. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Happy Puffing! |

Bryan, Here's a link that may get you some direction where to look next: http://www.nocturne.org/jason/aging/, in section #2 is an aging note by GL Pease that mentions Garfinkel tobacco. |

Bryan , check out this link. http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/garfinkels-orient-express-special-mixture Unopened factory sealed 2 oz tin of A, Garfinkel, Inc., Orient Express Special Mixture No 11. Garfinkel's was a celebrated Washington, DC retailer. In 1972, author Hugh Sidey wrote in Newsweek Magazine that while interviewing then President Richard M. Nixon he spotted some pipes and a tin of Garfinkel tobacco on Nixon's desk. Make no mistake this is the real article! Garfinkel's closed in the early 1980's. The tin and its contents is a great collector item. |
