I've begun stocking my cellar and wondered if there was any way to determine the date tobaccos were tinned?

Some tins for instance Seattle Pipe Club, Plum Pudding, has a sticker 061609 and GL Pease, Maltese Falcon's sticker is 042109. It seems it could this be the tinning date. Other tins like Esoterica have no indication while McClellan, Frog Morton series, six digit number coding stamped on the bottom of the tin.

Any thoughts or information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Many people here assume that the McClelland code last 2 digits are the year while the first 4 represent production information, seams right I just got a dark star to which the last 2 digits are 07 and Frog Morton 08. There's a lot of information on the subject do a search on this site.
