Are we talking about numbers of individual pipes smoked in a given day, or how many bowls ? Gosh,this is a little embarrassing, but I can't even count the number of bowls. I bring one pipe to work each day, but in the evening I may smoke 3 or 4 different pipes. I am never far from a pipe and a pouch. Jeff | ||

I carry 5 in the truck, but seldom smoke more than 3 per day. Lately, I have been putting some of them to the "multiple smoke day after day" test. They are cobs, and they seem to be holding up. A little swelling near the bottom. | ||

I usually have two smokes a day, sometimes three on the weekend. I only smoke an individual pipe once a day, but up to three times before cleaning, then let it rest for at least two to three weeks, usually longer. Seems to work for me. | ||

Truckerchuck, If you smoke a number of times as you drive, what is your loading routine? The reason that I ask is that I recently had to drive 600+ miles on three seperate occasions (we moved); one time, and only one time, did I load while driving- a one-handed, poorly-loaded, often relit bowl. For the rest of that trip, I used gas stops for loading. And for the next two trips, I loaded 4 bowls, then covered them with aluminum foil. What method do you use? Gary | ||

Gary, my guess would be: stop for a coffee and fill 10 pipes at once. I've read somewhere that Georges Simenon (author of Inspector Maigret) used to fill all his pipes (a LOT of pipes) before starting to write and smoked them one after another. He hated interruptions of any kind. Also Stubb from Moby Dick used to fill all his pipes every morning and smoke them throughout the day :-) And not to be off topic, I smoke one a day, rarely two. I plan to increase this rhythm since my 6 open tins of tobbaco are getting dry. | ||

I smoke 3 or 4 bowels during the week in a different pipe for each bowel. I have many pipes dedicaded to different baccy's, I.E. A few for Black Mallory, one for Dark Birds Eye, a few for Hal for the Wynd, 2 for Penzance, a few for this Va or that etc... I may smoke up to and more than 7 pipes a day on the weekend if possible. | ||
