To all you ladies and gentlemen of the briar (and the aluminum for the Falcon/Kirsten crowd) in the Houston area: I'm trying to gauge the level of interest in starting a regular meeting of pipe smokers here. Please post (or email me directly) and let me know (i) if if you are interested in a regular (monthly?) gathering; (ii) what your pipe related interests are, and (iii) if you might be willing and able to facilitate meetings. Thanks!

Have you thought of having the B/M folks at Croft's and The Briar Shoppe help you ask about founding a club???

Also, you might contact Jeff Folloder through Smokingpipes dot com, since he is a major player in the Houston P&T scene.

John - thanks for the tips. I'm checking to see if I can get some "critical mass" before approaching the shops, since their enthusiasm about this sort of thing often depends on whether they see some economic benefit. Will call Jeff later this week as you suggested.

Hey Phil -

This would be just great. Even if we can not find a specific pipe store, there are many open air places we could meet. This might be a good choice considering we should have several months of great outdoor weather. Barring conflicts in time from the three W's (wife, 3 wees ones, and work) it would be great.

I live in the Houston area also (Clear Lake to be precise) and would be interested in getting together with fellow pipe smokers. I'll be watching to see how your idea developes.
