until this afternoon, when the mailman left my latest ebay perchase on the doorstep...four estate meers. They're nice pipes but I don't think they've ever seen a pipecleaner. Two stems took eighteen or twenty pipecleaners dipped in Wild Turkey. I even took a shot myself, before starting on the next pipe.I'll fire one of theese up in a while but till then any tips on meers will be welcome. Herb

If they weren't cleaned, it's likely that they have some cake developed, also. Most meer smokers work against building any cake. You'll probably have to ream them.

The good news is that since they are meers, you can do it with your pocket knife if you don't have a reamer.

Seamus, art though mad?! At least warn the man that he can gauge the bottom of his pipes with the pocket knife. Herbert do yourself a favour and use something blunt.

Thanks for the tips guys. Oddly, just one of the bowls was somewhat caked.Nows a good time to invest in some reaming tools...I just missed a nice set of swiss made reamers on ebay today.
I thought I might try glueing some fine sandpaper to a wooden dowel...what do you gents think? Thanks again Herb.

400 grit will work fine. Just be careful you don't sand into the meerschaum itself.
