I was surfing online and saw these things, and then I saw the price , I could get 2 or more pipes for the price of some of them. Has anyone got one of these ,maybe you could give some insight as to what makes them so special?

Thanks

Some are made from exotic materials,(woods, acrylics(sp?) etc, and they do look very nice, although any priced tamper will. Some even use a finger which is always at the ready. I guess one mans floor is another mans ceiling cf.

I always looked at those as a pipe smoker's extravagance. 80 dollars or more for a tamper seems a little steep, but so is 2,000 dollars for a Bo Nordh. And I'd bet that Bo can't make pipes fast enough. Of course you can smoke a pipe without an expensive tamper, but they look like he puts some time into making one of those plus his material cost so maybe 80 bucks isn't all that much in the grand scheme of things.
