I am looking for a pipe appraiser, to appraise my pipe collection for insurance purposes. Has anyone such experience doing this? Can any recommendations be made? Thanks. |

Todd: For insurance purposes I have my pipes insured for replacement value plus 10%. Its difficult to place a value on any paticular pipe as they are worth what one is willing to pay for it. However a Dunhill is more valuble than say a Savinelli or Peterson of equal quality. The rarity of a pipe will increase its value. I've smoked pipes for 40+ years. I own a few pipes that are to me priceless as there is no way they can be replaced. Some insurance companies will palce a limit on how much a item can be insured. Check with your insurance agent. Take lots of pictures of your collection along with a discription:name, numbers, etc. place in a secure location such as a saftey deposit box. Kindest Reguards mIKW |
