Anyone own a Vauen? I am getting a case of PAD and this is one of the brands I am looking at along with Peterson since I still don't have one.

Thoughts on which would be the "better buy?" And I do, of course, know that this is a rather loaded question...

Vauen hand mades are a pretty good pipe, but most seem to be set up for the 9mm filter that europeans seem so keen on.

Vauen's factory pipes are probably about on par with peterson's for overall quality, so it would come down to the features of the individual pipe, I suppose.

Cannot vouch for the Vauen but I have smoked the Pete's for almost 25 years and I find them a good piece of wood for the money. But I guess you will have to decide based on the look and feel of each brand of pipe.

I have a Vauen "Exclusiv" sandblast full bent with a brandy-shaped bowl which is an exquisite smoker. Never enjoyed my Petersons. For what it's worth.

Think, one cannot select the way a pipe smokes by the brand or make.
Apart from the craftmanship put in the making, there always will be the factor luck or bad-luck.
I have/had pipes, not too expensive which were great smokers, and also a couple of which one would expect from the amount of money they did cost to be superb smokers but were not more then average or even less.
There undoubtly will be people for which a Pete is the best pipe on can buy, same will go for Vauen and also the opposite will be the truth.
