Hi, I'm new to pipe smoking and was wondering if you can smoke multiple bowl using one pipe in a day or should you just let your pipe rest after smoking one bowl? |

I smoke 3 or 4 bowls a day in the same pipe then let it rest about a week. |

I can, and have, chain smoked pipes with no adverse result, that I am aware of. I tend to smoke only one pipe now, once to three times a day, for weeks, with no apparent problem. One caveat. I am not known for my ability to taste subtle flavors. I know there are people who do, and it would ruin their pipes by treating them the way they do. I don't light up again, as soon as a bowl is finished, but let it at least cool. I have known guys to rigorously use a pipe cleaner, and tissues before lighting again ... from my old college days when we were broke. I think moisture is the main enemy of pipes, other than puffing too fast, and burning one up. I have done that also, in my college days.

You certainly can as long as you clean your pipe when you have finished with it for the day. Alot of the old timers still smoke one pipe to death and then buy another to replace it when it has been died. But a few folk including myself tell the good wife that pipes need resting so as we can buy more pipes in our rotation. More the merrier I say |

Thanks a lot folks. Initially I was under the impression that you can only smoke it once and let it rest. Currently, I'm in the process of building up carbon cake for my pipes it seems like a long drawn out process if I can only smoke it once and then let it rest. |

Gig's got it right! In addition, tell them that each pipe cost only U.S.$5, and you are not wasting any money. Such a good husband! :-)) |
